Minutes of the "Arkwright" Parish Hall Management Committee Meeting 25 January 2010

   

General NewsUNADOPTED MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF HOLBROOK PARISH COUNCIL “ARKWRIGHT” PARISH HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE HELD AT THE HALL ON MONDAY JANUARY 25th 2010 at 7.00.p.m.


PRESENT:- Councillors Biggin, Mrs. Bott, Hall (Chairman of Users’ Committee), Massey (Chairman) and Rhodes and Mrs. M. Hall (Treas. U.C.), and Mrs. L. Phipps (Sec. U.C.).

1. APOLOGIES:- None (all present)

2. MINUTES of the previous meeting were accepted as a true record.

3. MATTERS ARISING :-

a) Use of the waste bin seems to have improved – continue to monitor.
b) The Scouts had not taken the missing tables or cutlery to camp and
the matter had not been resolved. Agreed to keep an eye on the
situation and when the W.I. have put a lock on the cupboard the
cutlery should be locked away. It was agreed to discuss at the next
Parish Council meeting.
c) No further problem of doors being left open but a water heater had
been left running in the South Hall.

4. REPORT FROM USERS’ COMMITTEE:-

a) Playgroup has asked for permission to put some play equipment on
the grass at the front of the Hall – agreed provided it is away from the
Noticeboard and also that they are aware they are responsible for it
should there be any damage or vandalism.
b) Disused cooker in the South Kitchen needs to be disposed of – leave
for time being.
c) Fluorescent lighting tubes in Scout Room need to be kept in store
room – this was done immediately after the meeting, two old ones are
to be disposed of – Councillor Rhodes took them away for safety.

5. TREASURER’S REPORT:-

Current Account £2,449. 34
Business Account £1,022. 08
Building Society £ 251. 18
Cash in hand £ 42. 70
Total £3,765. 50
Outstanding accounts amount to £677.16
£200. 00 had been handed to the Treasurer at the U.C. meeting.
2 Paper Towel Dispensers and 2 Liquid Soap Dispensers are to be
purchased.
6. REPORT FROM TRUSTEES OF THE NEW PARISH HALL :-

The D.C.C. had suggested two separate halls under one roof but the cost of £750,000 had been prohibitive. Our architect has quoted a figure of approximately £450,000 for a slightly larger footprint than that proposed by the D.C.C. There will be a write up in the next issue of the village magazine. The dialogue is continuing with the Church. D.C.C. Councillor Mike Longden has written to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman thanking them for their assistance in trying to push the schemes forward. A meeting is to be held with the D.C.C. on 10 February 2010.

7. ANY OTHER BUSINESS :-

i) A.V.B.C. Trade Waste Recycling Scheme – not viable.
ii) When the Clerk has tried to find out when the Hall is vacant during the
day she is told by the Booking Clerk she only books the Hall in the
evenings. Councillor Hall to have a word with the Booking Clerk who
should have a complete list of all bookings.

8. DATE OF NEXT MEETING :- Monday 22 March at 7.15.p.m.
